The studs are used in conjunction with a Grommet in the outer panel which prevents the panel hole from wearing due to vibration. This Grommet also serves as a stud retainer. The Grommets can be an extremely Low Profile (plus flush) or Countersunk, Flush Style. The Grommets come in different lengths for different panel thicknesses and the lengths are indicated by Letters stamped in the face of the part. See the chart below for Grommet Selection.

Studs also come in different Lengths and they vary by .030". The stud length is indicated by a Number stamped in the head of the stud. These fasteners are available in a variety of head styles. 4002 series slotted head C-Locks feature our special Collared Slot which prevents your screwdriver from slipping and scratching expensive paint. Phillips (cross recess) head and wing head versions are also available. All MilSpec 4000 series C-Locks have an increased shank diameter at the cross pin location for added strength and higher torque yield qualities than traditional Camloc® parts.

Two tools are required to install these fasteners. The  MS-4P3  pliers depress the stud so that it can be inserted through the grommet, and the  MS-T26  tool spreads the grommet retaining ring open so that it snaps onto the grommet easily. These tools can be found below and on our Tools Page.
